Dr. Ronald S. Prehn, a third-generation dentist, focuses his practice on complex medical management of facial pain conditions (headache) and sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Prehn is on the staff of local hospitals, and he focuses his practice on the cusp between medicine and dentistry, providing care for patients with facial pain conditions, including TMJ and headache, and also those with sleep-related breathing disturbances. Dr. Prehn is a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, the American Association of the Study of Headache,American Academy of Sleep Medicine, AmericanAcademy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Appliance Therapy Practitioners Association. He is a Board Certified Member of the American Board of Orofacial Pain (a proposed ADA specialty) and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Prehn earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1981. His postgraduate work was accomplished at the Parker Mahan FacialPain Center at the University of Florida. He went into specialty practice in 1994, and in 1998, he moved with his family of five children and wife Linda to Houston, where he developed the Center for Facial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine (formerly Orofacial Pain Management of Houston, PC) in The Woodlands, Texas (north of Houston), where the focus of his practice is now the use of appliance therapy and medical management for TMJ disorders, sleep-related breathing disorders and the treatment of headache. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, and he also speaks nationally at conferences to other dentists, physicians and health-care professionals around the state and nation.
